Literacy as a Social

Reflection:
-When writing this journal entry, I remember focusing on the article in which I read the night before. What made me write about reading hard articles was the idea of me being able to understand them. I found it very difficult to capture the full essence of what the author was trying to say. This made me think about my strengths and weaknesses as a reader. One of my weaknesses is honestly that I do not like to read. I find that if it does not capture my attention in that spare moment then, it is labeled as uninteresting and it looses my focus. Especially when it comes to hard articles such as "Literacy as a Social" that talked about literacy within technology or education. My strengths are that I can think outside the box when I need to. If it is hard for me to understand, I try to find a loophole or a easier way to understanding the bigger picture regardless of how hard it is.
As I critically reflect on my past journals, I look back to understand that not every article is going to be easy to understand. It will sometimes be very confusing at times and as a reader, I just have to find a way to analyze and work through the misinterpretations I may have. Critical reflection is a way for me to articulate the reason why I believe something to be true or not. "Why do I think this way?" "Is there significance to it?" In the end, the choices I had made can only address revisions or compositions I created in the past when writing my journal.
Reflection:
- To the right of the page, I have a piece that introduces the topic of literative narratives. As a class , we focused on the idea of writibng based off of prompts Ms. Agosta had given to us throughout the semester. Here as you can see is a response in which I had written to the article we had read, Anzaldua's "How to Tame a Wild Tounge".
Creating pieces such as this helped me broaden my outlook on my own creativity and how I as a college student was able to express myself freely without a harsh alternative. It was a way for me to brainstorm on the "composing process" in which I can process a deeper meaning to the journal entry itself. Personally for me to understand something I have to brainstorm the whole idea. With free writing, I am able to write free handedly and not always think but just write. This however helped me for future composing processing ideas becuase I then figured out that I am better thinking off the top of my head because if I did not then I would be over thinking everything.
Writing of the Day 9/22

Journal Topic: Literacy Narrative

Reflection:
-To the left of the screen, I have a picture of one of my journals in which I had wrote in prior to writing my literacy narrative. This shows the thinking process I had when writing my narrative. "What was I to talk to about? How can I apply it to things I have learned throughout the course of this semester in UWrite class?" All of these questions ran through my head as I prepared to make my literacy narrative. I talked about the earliest memory I had when it came to reading and or writing. Honestly, its something I cannot remember. When making my literacy narrative I talked about how hard it was for me to read because its not something I do not always enjoy. Its hard for me to think back, becuase most of the time I forget becuase its not a fun activity for me. Nontheless, doing this assignment allowed me to dig deeper as to what literacy means to me as individual.
Looking back I reflect on the idea that I tried so hard to find what literacy had done for me as an individual. I found it very hard to remember my past and understand that reading and writing was just not for me. Doing this assignment allowed me to think rigorously on the fact that my literacy narrative was going to be a challenge. Eventually I was going to have ponder on the past of my educational experience before I could truly make a perfect literacy narrative.
