Often, when I am walking down the street I see people with signs asking for money. In other cases, I have had a situation where a girl or guy had physically walked up to me ask for me to get them something to eat. Usually someone would rather feel typically sorry for them and help them out right? Well that isn’t with me. I believe that if they have will and the confidence to come beg me for food then they have the courage to go get a job. Not everything in this world is achieved through a four-year education. If you can wake up and put clothes on yourself and walk around asking people for money, then you have the strength to get a job and make your own money.

I relate this to the article I had read by Mirabelli, because it talks about the affects of being a waitress and how someone recalls them not having any education, so they are stuck there. No, that is not true. Many people have to fight their way through education. School is expensive, so yes a lot of people do partake in being a waitress.

Interactions with customers however can show the experience in which you may or may not have. Some of those may react differently towards someone who does not have the people skills as to say someone else who can easily escort food to a table with the upmost care and smile.

In terms of a discourse community, the area of the restaurant is liable to be one with personality, knowledge of the menu, endurance, and any other skill you can think of. You as a waiter must present yourself in a certain manner in order to get the things you need. Such as getting the food to the table on time, not cold, and the right order. In the end, everything is a process and we as individuals must adjust in order to be successful.

This week in UWrit we talked about the sense of discourse communities within a setting of a restauraunt as well other areas. This past week we had two readings that evaluated the different concepts in which a discourse community can take place. What is being said? How is it being performed? Everything is viable information in terms of describing. We as a class all participated in discussion that helped us understand the meaning of what is discussed in a discourse community. Such as, goals, intercommunication, genres, expertise, and power and authority.
